I hope you enjoy these.  A lot of single-handed organisational effort went into the eight day event, which people found educating, entertaining and enlightening.  It was fun to be at! 

They say every picture tells a story so I guess this is the storyboard of Carrickfergus Celebrates Africa.  The townsfolk are not known for turning out to see and participate in events even though there are many which, like this one, are free.  I don’t know why that is.  It could be that they don’t read the local newspapers, read posters, pick up leaflets, or check out places like the Council Website.  It’s a shame really as they miss out on a lot. 

Those who did come totally enjoyed the event, some coming to see and hear the entertainment on both Saturdays.  The children who took part in the Art Workshops had fun as there is always a bit of a party atmosphere at these.  The African entertainers and DJs are first rate and were enjoyed by all.

Rosetta Jallow is hoping to be able to facilitate more African Cultural Events in 2012 if she can find the openings to do so.  Schools in particular would find them educational for their students, but it would also be possible to do African Art Demonstrations at Art Clubs, to arrange DJs and Face painters for African themed children’s or adults parties or to run Creative Writing Workshops with an African theme.  Africa shaped cookies can be provided at any party event.  Demonstrations of African clothing can be arranged.  Contact Rosetta if interested rosetta.jallow@gmail.com
